If you're getting error messages with the newly (22nd October 2009 onwards) released client, this should be the first port-of-call to find out what they mean.

#1: I've installed the client and when I run it, it does nothing or Update was cancelled because of an error or An update is being installed (looping).

This is a common problem with Windows XP users. Please install the latest version of Internet Explorer.

#2: The version comparison failed. The setup will now terminate.

You will receive this error message when trying to run the setup file having already installed the client. To fix this, uninstall the old client first. Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, select AruaROSE and click Uninstall.

#3: >SetupNew\setup.cpp (140)

This error is common from using the client downloader (200KB file size). The client has become corrupt whilst downloading. You should use another mirror to fix this error.

#4: Failed to open VFS. Please make sure that all game and launcher instances are closed.

Early versions of the v834 client will receive this problem when trying to open more than one client/launcher instance. Players should download the latest client to fix this.

#5: CRC Error: The file [...] doesn't match the file in the setup's .cab file.

The installer has become corrupt whilst downloading. Players should download the client from another mirror if receiving this error.

#6: The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect or This application has failed to start because of the application configuration is incorrect.

Our launcher requires that you have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package installed on your system. For convenience, we have provided this for you with the client install. Go to the installation directory of the client, and run vcredist_x86.exe.

New versions of the client (AruaROSE v847 onwards) will automatically install this for you during installation.

#7: Failed to get launcher version.

You should ensure that our launcher has permission to access the Internet. If you have a firewall running, make sure you add it as an exception so that it is not blocked. You can also try running our launcher as 'Run as administrator' by right clicking the launcher.

#8: When I start the launcher, the configuration window keeps showing.

Right click on the launcher and select 'Run as administrator'.
