Some players have issues in running our game launcher, using the game client or updating their game client. Below are some of the common error messages, their meanings and what you can do to fix it.

If you experience any game client crashes whilst playing, please refer to this thread: https://forum.aruarose.com/threads/solving-game-client-crashes.168095/

[#1] My anti-virus has detected a virus in the game client
Your anti-virus is falsely identifying our game client (TRose.exe) as suspicious. It does this as we use security software to provide added protection to our game, which unfortunately may also be used by real malicious software. As it is unable to analyse the game client to verify, it flags it as a false-positive.

False-positive detections are common in the antivirus industry. They occur when a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus product.

You should add the following folders to your anti-viruses exclusion list:

Default Installation Folder: C:\Users\Your-Username\AppData\Local\AruaROSE
Launcher Temporary Folder: C:\Users\Your-Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache

If you have changed the default Arua installation folder, you must add that to your exclusion list rather than the above "Default Installation Folder".

For players who use the built-in Windows Virus & Threat Protection, open Virus & Threat Protection and find the Virus & Threat Protection Settings category and click Manage Settings:

Scroll down the page slightly and find the Exclusions category and click Add or Remove Exclusions:

Click the [+] Add an Exclusion button and select Folder:

You can then add the folder exclusions described above.

[#2] Failed to load config file
This is caused by your computer being unable to either:
Your anti-virus/firewall may be blocking the game launcher from accessing our update URL. Try to add "http://patch.aruarose.com" to your exclusions list, or right-click on the game launcher and select "Run as administrator".

You can also try opening Internet Explorer (which is installed on every computer by default) and ensuring that is able to access the above URLs/files.

[#3] The update process was aborted because of an error
Your anti-virus has stopped the game launcher from updating. Please refer to #1.

[#4] There was an error extracting an update
Your anti-virus or Windows installation has stopped the game launcher from updating. Please refer to #1.

[#5] The update process was abruptly aborted
Your anti-virus has stopped the game launcher from updating. Please refer to #1.

[#6] Game update was cancelled by the user. The game must be fully patched before you can play
Your anti-virus has stopped the game launcher from updating. Please refer to #1.

[#7] Game update failed. The game must be fully patched before you can play
Your anti-virus has stopped the game launcher from updating. Please refer to #1.

[#8] Failed to open VFS. Please make sure that all game and launcher instances are closed
An update is available and your Arua game client is trying to update, but you have existing game clients open. You must close all opened Arua game clients then run the game launcher again so that it can fully update.

In some instances, we've seen ghost processes exist even after closing the game client. If the above error is still shown and all game clients appear to be closed, try restarting your computer.

[#9] Failed to launch AruaOnline
The game launcher doesn't have the correct permission to start our game client. Try to right-click on the game launcher and select "Run as administrator, or refer to #1 to add the game client to your exclusions.

[#10] My game launcher is stuck on "Downloading update # of #..."
Your anti-virus has blocked the game launcher from downloading part of an update. Please refer to #1 and #2.

[#11] MSVCP140.dll is missing
The game client requires C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 to be installed and updated on your computer. We automatically install this when you install the game client, but older game installers may not include this file.

You can either:
In either case, ensuring your computer is fully up to date is your responsibility. We provide backwards compatibility as best as we can, but older versions of Windows, particular Windows XP and Windows 7, are no longer officially supported by our development. If you use these, we strongly urge you to upgrade to Windows 10.

[#12] api-ms-win-[...].dll is missing
The game client requires Universal C Runtime for Windows to be installed and updated on your computer. Windows Update automatically installs this for you, providing you keep your computer up to date.

[#13] Cannot find 'discord-rpc.dll'
Your game launcher has failed to download/update a required file. You can download this file manually here, then place it into your Arua installation folder: http://patch.aruarose.com/files/discord-rpc.dll

[#14] My game launcher keeps updating every time I start the game
Your game launcher has no permission to save the game updates, so it is attempting to update when you start the game launcher. Try to right-click on the game launcher and select "Run as administrator, or refer to #1 to add the game client to your exclusions.
