Visitor,

Arua was born in 2007, which makes us the most established R.O.S.E. Online game by far. There are many assumptions, myths and rumours about Arua and what we're about, so I'd like to go into detail some of our core systems and why you should join our amazing community.

Thanks for taking the time in reading some highlights below.

Our Core Game

At the core, we are a 100% original classic "IROSE" game. All of our core system, like damage calculations, stat distribution, skill system, upgrade system, etc, are identical to the original classic IROSE game from 2004.

We went down this route as it is widely known to be the most loved and accepted version of the game. The versions which followed classic IROSE, "Pre-Evolution" and "Evolution" drastically changed the game in ways which our community didn't agree with and neither did our development team.

Where possible, our development follows the same path that the original developers intended it to be. We are fortunate to be in a position where we have details of the concepts of future expansions of the game. We will never release expansions to the game which do not tie in with original ideas or paths.

By definition, Arua is IROSE.

A Unique Hybrid

Since 2012, Arua has been a completely unique version of R.O.S.E. Online. Our game combines all of the classic IROSE elements with a mixture of "Pre-Evolution", "Evolution" and our own Quality-of-Life improvements.

Although our core game is based on classic IROSE, good elements of the latter games have been added, such as:
  • Arua's Fairy who will provide Visitors with buffs for 1 hour
  • Cart Backseats which allows you to carry friends on the back of your Cart.
Our User Interface has been improved over time and is largely based on an "Evolution" skin. We decided against using the old classic IROSE UI due to the restrictions it has on development and it's outdated appearance. Our UI allows for quicker development of features which require integration with the UI.

Two Servers: Arua and Classic

In 2018, we made the decision to open a new server. At the core, these servers are identical: both are classic IROSE. The only difference to our two versions of the game come from the features and game rates.

Arua
Our most developed version of the game, Arua, includes all of the features we've created, higher game rates, larger population and all of the maps and planets we've developed.
Classic
Based on the original R.O.S.E. Online game in 2005, Classic doesn't include the more advanced features we've created, such as the Market Place and our Dungeons / Raids. As of January 2019, progression ends on the Planet Luna. Game rates for Classic are 1x Experience and 1x Drop Rate. Classic was created for players who like to play the vanilla experience without all the fancy bits on top.
What Classic does retain is the hundreds of bugs we've fixed over the years from Arua, and some Quality-of-Life changes like Offline Vending and updates to the Party system.

What version of the game you play largely depends on what you want out of playing our game. Classic will give you more sense of achievement due to the slower game play, whereas Arua will allow you to skip the slower parts of the game and join the fun at high levels.

You don't need two game clients or two game accounts! Our login screen gives you the option of which version of the game you would like to play.

Unique Features

Over the years, we've been able to create some truly amazing expansions to the game which we'd like to quickly talk about.

Game Arenas

We have many types of Game Arenas which are played and loved by players every day. Some of these Game Arenas include:

Battle Royale
If you've heard of Playerunknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) or Fortnite (if not, have you been living under a rock?!), our Battle Royale follows the same mechanics. Players join a large island in random locations and have to loot equipment which spawns randomly throughout the islands and killing another player will drop their loot. Watch out - the storm reduces in size throughout the game and you'll start losing health if you get caught up in it!
Did you know: We were the FIRST MMORPG to add the Battle Royale game type!
Capture the Fairy
Our take on Capture the Flag, Capture the Fairy places two teams against each other where each team must capture the oppositions Fairy. Fairies spawn at each teams base and you must battle your way back to your home base to capture the fairy.
Crystal Defenders
As the name suggests, two teams battle it out to capture and defend crystals. Six crystals spawn on the map and the team with the most tickets at the end of the game are declared victorious.
Survival Arena
Based on the movie The Hunger Games, players join the free-for-all Survival Islands where the objective is to simply be the last man standing. We've implemented the same storm system from Battle Royale which reduces the playable area of the island over time which helps keep the game intense.
AND MORE!
We have other Game Arenas, including PvE, Party, Racing and a PvP Tournament.
From time to time, you may also see a Game Arena notification whilst playing:

We added this to help draw players into Game Arenas who otherwise may not be aware that we have them, or perhaps if we need a couple of extra players to join.

Market Place

Not too dissimilar to an Auction House that you will find in some games, our Market Place gives you instant access to every shop across the world. You can access the Market Place in all major cities by looking out for [Market Place Manager] Duke.

We didn't want to add the ability to directly purchase items through it, so you'll still need to visit the shop to make the transaction - but we made that easy for you.

Pets

Something for the players who love something a little cute, Pets follow you around and with the right accessories can provide you with a little boost. Pet Skins are available through Events, Boxes/Chests, Drops and the Item Mall. You can equip up to 3 Pet Accessories - two accessory slots can be used for free and the third requires a pet accessory expansion. Accessories include Experience Boosts, Stat Boosts and Auto Pickup.

World Events: Sikuku Ruins

A newer addition to the game, our World Events are unique and you won't find anything else quite like it. The "Ancient Dormant" is a Clan v Clan event which takes part in the maze of Sikuku Ruins and is the first development of the game to enable dynamic PvP: part of the map remains in PvE mode whereas the event area turns into PvP mode.

AND MORE!

We've created so many unique features over the time that it would be impossible to list even half of them.

Boost Up

We've designed an exclusive event designed to skip some parts of the game that you would otherwise have skipped rather quickly in either case: the Boost Up Event.

Taking part in the event will instantly boost you to Level 120 with a plethora equipment and items to get you going.

We know that this event isn't for everyone, and not everyone may agree with it, but we have to cater to everyone. Giving everyone a quick boost to get them started in an old game should be a welcome addition!

You can read more about the Boost Up Event here.

Staff, Development and You

We have always prided ourselves in the service we provide to you:
  • Constant attention from our staff and development team.
  • Regular expansions to the game. You can explore all of our changes since 2007, and you'll quickly notice that there hasn't any long period of time where we haven't released an update.
  • Quick and fair support. The support we provide to one player is the same to another - there is no bias, bending of rules and certainly no way to buy yourself support or special treatment.
  • Support tickets are usually answered and solved within 24 hours.
Our Events Team has been set up to provide players with regular in-game updates, such as Puzzle Quizzes, Hide & Seek Events and seasonal events. They all work tirelessly to give provide you with enjoyment.

An area which sets us apart, in particular when comparing our development to the American variation of the game, is our ability to quickly identify and fix game breaking bugs and exploits. A recent example of this would be the widely known and abused duplication exploits on the American variation - an exploit which has, embarrassingly, been active on their game for 3 years.

We are no stranger to exploits! We've had our fair share of them, both caused by changes we've made and left over from original developers and once they become known they will be used and abused very quickly. However, a recent (2017) duplication exploit in our game was identified and fixed within one week which involved a full code rewrite and we were able to mitigate it's impact very quickly.

Learning from this, we've created many methods which allow us to disable core parts of the game without a restart or update immediately in case of any future problems. We've not yet had any, but it's better to be prepared!

Closing Thoughts

Arua is old and has lots of history - both good and bad. We were born in 2007 and through that time we've had many Staff join and leave us and we've all grown older, wiser and matured. It's easy to make a judgement on whether you want to join Arua based on how something was 8 years ago, or how someone spoke to you 10 years ago. Unfortunately, players hold grudges for no reason other than to have one or "fit in". The fact remains that R.O.S.E. Online is an old game - it's far outlived what it should have otherwise been a short life. R.O.S.E. Online was an experiment and never designed to be a long lasting game. The recent announcement of the America variation closing its doors shows that the community should come together.

We never stop learning. We never stop developing and pushing our boundaries. We've made developments on Arua that the game was never designed to have. We're on an endless road to provide you with the best possible experience. As we develop, we may introduce new bugs and our promise to you is that we'll work endlessly to address those bugs - shown by our past updates.

We know you don't agree with every change we make, and you know we don't agree with every suggestion which comes our way - but that's what makes us great. We're an active community which welcomes open discussion and constructive criticism.

We welcome all players with open arms - whether you were a past player who left the game, didn't like the development path we took, didn't feel like they were treated fairly or just have a predefined assumption of what Arua is based on lies or rumours, you are welcome on Arua.

Welcome to Arua.
